Multifunctional West Hollywood Home

The clients host conferences, overnight retreats and the occasional dinner party. Maximizing space was of the essence.

A dilapidated bungalow was replaced by two individual structures, approximately 1400 square feet each.

When our Los Angeles clients remodeled their home in 2014, it was for a multitude of purposes. In addition to throwing the occasional dinner party, the couple also hosts conferences, seminars, and overnight retreats. Needless to say, maximized use of space was of the essence as they wanted to enjoy a truly multifunctional West Hollywood home.

The buildings are joined by a common courtyard, creating separate living quarters for residents, as well as privacy and plenty of space for overnight guests. While addressing the need to accommodate larger groups, the clients did not want to compromise function for more common daily uses – like a home office and gym. With some thoughtful space planning (and the use of multiple pieces by Resource Furniture), nearly every room performs multiple functions, creating an environment that is comfortable, stylish, and downright fun to explore.

Two master guest suites have the feel and function of a luxurious studio apartment with a large, comfy Swing featured in each living area. Sliding glass doors in both suites open onto green roof decks – perfect for soaking up the California sun.

This home gym doubles as a room for two overnight guests using the Lollisoft bunk bed by Clei. Extra-long twin mattresses and a high weight capacity make the beds ideal for children and adults alike.

Client’s coffee tables were custom-made to perfectly nestle underneath the bed when open. Hint: our Como Basso and Six Table are two fabulous options that also work wonders with our Swing, Nuovoliola, or Tango systems. A quiet office area directly off of the courtyard…

…doubles as a 2-person guest room – complete with closet space and additional hidden bookshelves in the Kali. Directly across sits the unassuming Poppi Book – acting as a small library by day, bedroom by night.

The kitchen features not one, but two of the transforming Goliath tables. For day-to-day use, one Goliath is tucked away in console form. The tables are used in tandem for larger gatherings and presentations.

This home is the perfect example of how one piece of Resource Furniture can change a space – and several can transform a whole house. Thanks to our talented friend Joshua Wells of Sun Valley Photography for the photos. Check out some more of our favorite projects here.
