Frequently Asked Questions
Comfort is subjective, but modular and sectional seating from Resource Furniture is engineered to be just as comfortable as — and often more versatile than — a traditional one-piece sofa. Modular sofas like the Flex let you rearrange modules and cushions to create configurations tailored to how you sit, lounge, or entertain. Many of our sectionals include configurable backrests and removable components that let a unit become a chaise, an extended sectional, or even guest sleeping space. The Kintai modular system, for example, offers an array of shapes that fit together in multiple arrangements, so you can dial in the support and lounging area that works best for you.
In short: a well-designed modular sectional from Resource Furniture delivers the cozy support you expect from a high-end sofa plus the flexibility to find your ideal comfort zone.
Regular care will keep both upholstered and leather chairs looking and feeling great — but the routines differ.
Upholstered chairs
- Vacuum or brush fabric regularly to remove dust and debris.
- Spot-clean spills right away with a fabric-safe cleaner and always test in an inconspicuous area first.
- Many Resource Furniture sofas offer removable slipcovers or optional protective covers for easy cleaning — use those where available.
- Keep fabric out of direct sunlight to reduce fading.
Leather chairs
- Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and wipe with a slightly damp cloth when needed.
- Use a leather cleaner/conditioner a few times a year to keep hides supple and to prevent drying or cracking (especially for Italian leathers used on many of our pieces).
- Avoid harsh chemicals, direct sunlight, and heat sources. For spills, blot immediately (don’t rub), and consult a professional for tough stains.
Always follow any specific care instructions on the product page, and contact our showroom team if you need product-specific advice.
There’s no rule that dining chairs must match the table. Mixing chairs and tables is a stylish option and often creates a more personal, layered look. The key is coherence: choose a unifying element such as a shared color, material, or finish. Resource Furniture chairs are customizable in fabric, leather, wood, and lacquer, which makes either approach easy:
- Match: Pick chair legs or upholstery that echo the table’s finish for a coordinated, classic look.
- Mix: Use contrasting materials (for example, an upholstered chair with a wood-backed chair) to create visual interest. Consider using a single chair style at the ends of the table and a different style along the sides to add hierarchy while keeping things cohesive.
If you’d like, we can recommend chair/table pairings from our current collection.
Aim for 10–12 inches of clearance between the top of the seat and the underside of the table or counter.
- Standard dining table (≈ 29–30″ high): seat height ≈ 18″.
- Counter height (≈ 36″ high): counter stools with seat heights ≈ 24–26″.
- Bar height (≈ 40–42″ high): bar stools with seat heights ≈ 29–30″.
Measure your table height and subtract ~11″ to find the target seat height. Many Resource Furniture stools (for example, the Break Stool and Bee Stool) are available in counter and bar heights — check the product page for exact dimensions before ordering.
It depends on function and layout, but these practical rules help:
- Small dining nook: typically 2–4 chairs. Four is common for a compact round or square table, but if space is tight start with 2 or 3 and add a fourth when needed.
- Bonus / multi-use room: keep 2 multi-purpose chairs out and bring in extra folding, stackable, or nesting chairs for guests. Resource Furniture carries space-saving stools and stackable options (and benches) that tuck away or nest beneath tables to keep the room open.
A bench is a great small-space trick because it seats multiple people and tucks under or against a wall when not in use. In short: choose the fewest chairs you need daily and plan for flexible extras for entertaining.
