The event brings together industry leaders dedicated to sustainable building and design. In 2012 the event was hosted in San Francisco where we teamed up with Seattle-based pre-fab builder Method Homes. The event was held in Philadelphia in 2013, we sponsored Building Design+Construction’s “Pedia-Pod”, a prototype pediatric treatment module.

The pre-fab kid-friendly module was an incredibly innovative project worthy of a LEED Gold application, including a multi-functional 180 square foot “Family Zone” which functions as a waiting area, play space, work area and provides a much-needed sleeping facilities for families of the young patients. The “Murphy bed” as they were once known — now called “wall beds” — are manufactured in Italy by Clei. The bed in this particular unit – called “Ito” – is a freestanding, multifunctional, seven-foot sofa during the day that seamlessly transforms into a comfortable queen wall bed at night.

In step with the sustainability goals of Greenbuild, Clei bed systems feature water-based lacquers, FSC-CoC certified and CARB (2) compliant materials, and biodegradable, solvent-free mattresses – all important features in sensitive healthcare environments.
