Transforming Two Georgetown Homes
Two Condo Makeovers Showcase our Multifunctional Furniture

The Winter 2019 edition of Home & Design magazine included write-ups of two recent interior remodeling projects featuring Resource Furniture.
The first — a 1,400 sq. ft. condo purchased by empty nesters as a Georgetown pied-à-terre – was gut-renovated by architect Andrea Charalambous to open up the floor plan (”Urban Getaway,” p. 109). A wall between the living room and adjacent den was removed, replaced with a sculptural, freestanding fireplace to delineate the sitting area from the more casual lounge space. Next, dark, wood-stained cabinets and granite counters gave way to white base units and a floating, LED-lit upper cabinet, giving the kitchen a fresh and airy appeal.
Just off the kitchen is an area that does double duty as a home office and guest room. During the day, our LGM wall bed system provides 35 linear feet of shelving and includes a built-in desk. When the grandkids come for overnight visits the shelving unit rotates to reveal a vertically-opening queen-size wall bed. The solution is both comfortable and functional, offering maximum utility and an efficient use of the space
Perfect Fit
The second project appeared in H&D’s “Expert Advice: Small Spaces” column (“Perfect Fit,” p. 165). Interior designer Theresa Boland worked with our Washington, D.C. showroom manager, Jennifer Scher, to select pieces for a condo in Logan Circle. As with the Georgetown flat, there was an area off the kitchen flexible enough to act as a dining room, sitting area, and/or office — the trick was to find the right furniture. Taking time to think about how you will use your apartment is key, according to Jennifer, who was quoted in the article. “Carefully considering how you live before buying your furniture will enable you to invest wisely in enduring pieces,” she said.
Our Passo convertible coffee-to-dining table was an optimal choice, acting as a centerpiece for the room. Its height adjusts from nine to 31½ inches and it expands in length from 50 to 93 inches, making it suitable for up to eight people to enjoy a meal together. The wall opposite the kitchen island was flanked by two sets of doors; Boland selected our Nuovoliola wall bed with sofa to maximum the room’s functionality without cluttering it. Closed, it provides additional seating without blocking access to the closets. Opened, it offers a comfortable and attractive alternative to the typical sleeper sofa.
